RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CORNER
Please remember to pray for our students about to make their First Communion or Confirmation.
Thirteen children are preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on April 30.
Twenty-six of our 8th-graders will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 11. We were able to move our Confirmation dates from October of their 9th- grade year to the Spring of their 8th grade. This helps students celebrate while the momentum is still strong from their experiences in class and community projects.
Spring is a new beginning and so it is for our First Communicants and Confirmandi. Look for their pictures in the vestibule soon, and if you see them at Mass, perhaps give them a word of encouragement. If you have taken a paper dove denoting one of our Confirmation Candidates, kindly return it to the basket by the Baptismal Font to give back to him or her soon.
We began a new ministry called the Lunch Bunch. Our students made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the homeless that were distributed in Cass Park in Detroit. Gift cards to Kroger or Meijer would be a huge help to secure the supplies needed for this project. In addition to making sandwiches, they also helped with a Gleaner’s Food Pantry project and made blankets for Child’s Hope, a child abuse advocacy program. These projects were a great way for our students to practice Almsgiving during Lent. Please pray for them.
Mark your calendars for our Summer Vacation Bible School program set for July 24-27. This event is open to the community and is FREE.
